Material Trend 2018/2019- Mood Board - Glitch

Glitch

Textiles are becoming increasingly abstracted in a continued trend towards disrupted aesthetics. At a time when people feel let down by systems and leadership glitch art is a mirror to our feelings of systems being purposefully manipulated to stand out. We look to the past at abstract visual artists like Gerard Richter and also to future artists working with glitching like Sabato Visconti and Phillip Stearn of Glitch Textiles.

Glitch Textiles in paticular exemplifies how the abstract nature of glitch art can influence weaving to make textiles new and modern.

Tactile Trends believe the growing trend for Glitch aesthetics will continue to influence textiles in 2018/2019

Glitch appeals to designers for its dystopian yet futuristic look and feel. There’s a controlled imperfection to it and it’s a reminder of the technical elements of design.
