Autumn Winter 2018/19 Colour Capsule - Nostalgia
Colour is an exciting but polarizing topic in design and anyone that works with colour will know the trials and tribulations of getting it wrong and the joys of getting it right.
In the fashion industry most companies start their season with a colour vision which is then aligned with key trend themes. After colour and trends are agreed it is then the job of the designer and buyer to design and direct collections with trend AND sales information carefully considered.
So with commercial colour in mind, today we introduce a series of 'Colour Capsules' which are palettes designed to give you inspiration on how colours could be combined in different fabrications.
We start with an overview and colour moodboard and then focus in on the palette showing how colours translate into different fabric types.
Nostalgia Colour Capsule
Powdery warm tones evoke feelings of nostalgia in this colour capsule of the same name. Utilitarian basics are enriched with a feminine sensibility as we see unions of sage green next to buttermilk and salmon pink whilst blue acts as a calm and stabilising base.
Laces are punctuated in feminine hues and matt cotton yarns and meshes add a casual pretty edge contrasting with cool blue sheen for a hint of the season ahead.
Sage green, a colour associated with utility wear looks fresh and feminine in embroidery and beadwork. Salmon pink, buttermilk and denim blue mingle in melange for a modern casual outcome.
This Autumn Winter 2018/19 palette is perfect for transitioning from late Summer into early Autumn and lends itself to Intimates very well.
We hope you find this new colour intelligence series inspiring and most of all useful!
